Help decide how $480,000 is spent making Bair Street safer, greener and easier to get around.

Why we’re asking

Council has heard from residents, traders and community groups that this area needs attention. Before we commit to a design, we want to understand which outcomes matter most to the people who use it every day.

  • Read the background documents
  • Compare the proposed options and their costs
  • Tell us what you think before consultation closes

All feedback will be summarised in a report to Council, which will be published on this page.

$480,000 to allocate across 6 options

The proposed options

  • Wider footpaths and outdoor dining

    $165,000

Widen the footpaths on both sides of Bair Street between McCartin and Ogilvy streets, with space for café seating.

  • Street trees and garden beds

    $85,000

Plant 40 advanced street trees with water-sensitive garden beds to cool the street in summer.

  • Raised pedestrian crossings

    $120,000

Three raised crossings to slow traffic and make it easier to cross with a pram or mobility aid.

  • Bike parking and repair station

    $25,000

Secure bike hoops outside the shops and a public bike repair station near the library.

  • Feature lighting

    $60,000

Warm LED feature lighting in the trees and along the shopfronts for evening trade.

  • Public toilet upgrade

    $95,000

Replace the Bair Street toilet block with an accessible, all-gender facility.
